Late summer in SW Montana.

Late summer in SW Montana.

Wildfire smoke pushed in by the wind lingers, the vibrant greens we enjoyed for the last two months have now become dry fuels with the recent increased fire danger. Bucks still in velvet, the wheat fields a rich beautiful gold and river levels low.

Life moves fast here in the summer despite the long hours of daylight. The landscape ever-changing keeping the adventurous types constantly adapting.

This summer my garden has been the center of the universe for me while taking a Master Gardener course and a brief break from flight school to save up for my next steps. Last summers busy travel schedule didn’t allow me to maintain a garden like I had intended, so this summer has made up for that. Growing and sourcing your own food is one of the more fulfilling things in life, and I love living somewhere that encourages it.

The next few weeks will bring more heat but you can feel that fall is no doubt on the way. I’m looking forward to breaking the puffy and beanie back out, climbing in cooler weather and then elk hunting season!
