A proper introduction

Hi! My name is Alex. I’m a third-generation pilot, photographer & the marketing coordinator for Sunset West. Thus far I’ve spent the greater chunk of my life on the Gulf coast of Florida - my first love. When I graduated from SCAD with a fashion degree I didn’t have a clear career path set but I did have a list of pretty ambitious personal goals in my sketchbook. I’ve been checking those boxes ever since. 

My family has owned & operated a marina complex for over 35 years now, which was my grandfather’s project after retiring from the Air Force. We’re a pretty tight-knit crew that live mostly unconventional lives & I’m thankful to have their unwavering support from across the country. My uncles & cousins are some of the most artistic individuals and talented boat captains out there. They prefer to fly under the radar, as do I, but today they’re getting my public praise. They deserve it. 

My grandfather, known as Razor, is my hero. Accomplished pilot, sailor, the glue to our family. He has been the biggest influence in my life as it is ultimately because of him that I started my own journey into the vast & rather intimidating world of aviation. 

While I ended up wandering a little far from my home waters, I’ve built a life of my own with Casey, Sushi(cat) & Banyan(dog). We spend our time in pursuit of all the adventures the mountains have to offer. 

As I continue my flight training & harbor a photo business, I’ve discovered an incredible circle of people who enrich my life on the daily. From the aviation community to photog & skiing - Instagram has allowed me the opportunity to get to know some really awesome folks. It definitely makes showing up here worth it.
